HUGE growth spurt

So I got to looking at Sophia's stats from 18 months (right before Christmas).

Get this... she has grown:
6 lb. 2 oz.
3 inches

since then!! How insane is that?! No wonder the 2T clothes barely fit now!
I'm still not 100% convinced of those stats as she was trying to jump off of the baby scale, but if she's grown 3 inches then I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 lb. for every one of those inches.
All very strange coming from parents who are only in the 5 ft. 6- 5 ft. 7 in. range.

2 year check-up

Sophia is still growing like a horse.

30 lb. 6 oz.- 90th percentile
35 1/2 in.- 90th percentile
19 1/4 in. head- 75-90th percentile

She has officially outgrown Lily at her 2 year check-up. Lily didn't reach 30 lb. until she turned 3!
27 lb. 12 oz.
35 in.

Coloring Queen

Well, Lily has gone and done it again! Not only did she win the credit union's Easter coloring contest last month... to the tune of $20 in her savings account, but she just won the Once Upon a Child coloring contest too! $25!! I'm not sure if it's cash or if we have to spend it there, but either way it's awesome!
Here I was preparing her that, "now you might not win this one and you can't win 'em all," and she went and did it again!

WTG Lily!

Well, I guess we were about due...

So, Sophia is finally sick. She was running her first fever Monday night and off and on on Tuesday and I was just sure that something had to be brewing. Sure enough, she woke up and threw up in her bed Tues. night and then sounded hoarse when she cried yesterday. Croup... round 2.
She had a mild case of it last August too, but it only lasted a day.
This time they're trying her on Zyrtec in case it could be allergy-related (since Lily has seasonal ones too), so I'm HOPING that she's all better in the next day or 2.
She has been sooooo crabby that I'm thankful that she's never really been sick before. I think I would've lost my mind!
It was a nice long run of almost 2 years, and for that I'm so very thankful!!

Word explosion!

Well, it seems that Sophia has really taken off in the speech department these last couple of weeks! After being stuck with probably about the same 10 words she's added:

etc.

And just when you think they'll never talk... they are never quiet again. :)

A new era

Well, it appears that Sophia now knows how to open all of the doors in our condo (except the one that leads outside-- too heavy). It really should be no surprise as they are the lever handles and she IS 19 months old, but I was kind of hoping she would never figure it out.
I just caught her in the pantry with a bag of chips. When she saw me she gave me a hearty, "HI!" and a wave. She is also currently obsessed with the silverware drawer, trash can, and toilet. I am running out of places up high to put things.
She is into trouble from the minute she gets up until the minute she goes down for the night. I am getting my exercise (both physically and mentally). Phew!

a Dennis the Menace moment

I awoke last night at 2:15 am to 2 mischievous eyes staring at my face. I must've been sleeping on my back... which is unusual for me.
Anyway, the owner of those 2 smiling eyes made a startled squeak when she saw me look at her and then flew right back to her own pillow. (She sleeps in the crib next to our bed with one side removed).
It was one of those moments when I could've totally seen her trying to stick something up my nose or in one of my ears.

Then for 1 whole hour she decided to chatter away repeating every word that she knows... with an emphasis on cacka (cracker). There was also lots of time spent calling out for "Dadeeee."
FINALLY she decided to pass back out.
It was a strange night indeed.

I know I will miss these days someday. Even though I am dog tired today, it was still pretty cute. :)
